ICF Italia Formwork
Bidirectional
Floor Slab
The ICF Italia floor formwork consists of modular EPS panels with interlocking outer edges, designed to create bidirectional floor slabs.
It is the result of research work in the production of Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) products for the construction industry.
It consists of molded panels with variable thickness depending on structural calculation and transmittance requirements. They are composed of a lower part (EPS base) that is placed on the supporting formwork and an upper part (EPS block) that interlocks firmly with the first to form the joists to be cast on site.

Bidirectional Floor Slab
The panels that make up the base have a size of 60×60 cm. The assembly of the “base” and the “block” offers the possibility of creating unidirectional floor slabs or, where necessary for static requirements, bidirectional plate floors, which allow for a reduction of about 40% in structural thicknesses compared to a traditional floor slab, as well as increasing free spans.
The advantages of the ICF Italia Floor Formwork
Finishing
Thanks to the presence of appropriate metal sheets embedded in the polystyrene on the intrados, it is possible to fix finishing plasterboard sheets or apply suspended loads. The particular configuration of these metal sheets, which is patented, ensures the anchoring of the finishing sheets to the reinforced concrete part even in case of fire.
Protection
Building with ICF protects life and the environment. The structures created are earthquake-resistant and eco-sustainable, with high thermal and acoustic insulation.
Safety
Since it is necessary to create a “continuous” support platform, the use of the ICF Italia floor slab is safer for operators against the risk of falling from heights.
Insulation
The insulation is continuous and uniform, thanks to the presence of special “under-beam” panels, even for solid slabs or cantilevers.
Time
Its simplicity translates into quick installation times and therefore a very low execution cost compared to other EPS systems on the market.
