Floor formwork
The ICF floor system consists of “stay-in-place” panels made of EPS (expanded
polystyrene) with a modular shape and interlocking external surfaces, designed to
create lightweight floor slabs (or roofs) in mono or bidirectional configurations.
The panels are made of molded sheets with variable thickness depending on structural calculation requirements and transmittance. They consist of a lower part (EPS base) that rests on the support formwork and an upper part (EPS block) that interlocks firmly with the first.
The floor plan dimensions of the sheets are 63x63cm.
Assembly types
Element that allows, through insertion into the guide rail, to connect two ICF Italia panels.
Facilitates operators during installation, allowing to recreate the square at the corners.
Characteristics
The use of a “plate” or “bidirectional” floor slab allows for maximum optimization of the structural performance of buildings with load-bearing walls, reducing the thickness of the deck and distributing horizontal and vertical actions on the supporting walls, with evident advantages in terms of overall reinforcement and foundation sizing.
Lightweight reinforced concrete floor
The system consists of modular EPS formwork panels with
interlocking external edges, designed to create floor slabs
with mono or bidirectional configuration. It is the result of research
carried out by companies characterized by extensive experience
in the production of Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) products for
construction.
The dimensional module of the EPS base is 60×60 cm in
compliance with the regulations that impose a maximum structural
spacing of 60cm.
40% thickness reduction
The assembly of the sheet and the block offers the possibility of creating unidirectional floor slabs or, where necessary for static requirements, plate floor slabs with bidirectional joists, which allow a reduction of about 40% in structural thickness compared to a traditional floor slab, as well as increasing free spans.
Uniform insulation
The insulation is continuous and uniform, thanks to the presence of special under-beam bases that can also be used for the creation of solid slabs or protruding parts (balconies).
Ready for drywall
The practicality of ICF MONOBI floor slabs is demonstrated by the presence, on the intrados, of appropriate metal plates embedded in the polystyrene to which it is possible to fix the finishing plasterboard sheets or apply suspended loads. The particular conformation of these metal plates, which is patented, guarantees the anchoring of the finishing sheets to the reinforced concrete part even in case of fire.
Economically advantageous
The ICF floor formwork is particularly advantageous also in economic terms, as its simplicity translates into a very low execution cost compared to other EPS systems available on the market.
Reduced risk for workers
The installation, which involves the creation of a “continuous” support deck, is safer for operators in terms of the risk of falling from heights, in compliance with the requirements introduced by Legislative Decree 81/08. Transport is also favored, as the panels can be easily stacked and occupy a very small volume.
The ICF Italia system
Floor Formwork
It allows to increase the quality of buildings, reduce construction costs and minimize time, while complying with all current regulations.
To ensure the correct structural behavior of the system, the modules must be completed by the executing company through the introduction of supplementary reinforcements and the pouring of concrete.
Technical data
- Joist spacing: 60cm
- Joist width: 10cm or 12cm
- Self-weight: approximately 10kg/m²
- Base thickness: from a minimum of 3.5cm to a maximum of 6cm
- Hollow block thickness: variable depending on calculation requirements
- Fire resistance*: 120min
- Thermal transmittance: variable from a minimum of 0.32 to a maximum of 0.28W/m²*K
- Sound insulation power*: 60dB
- Normalized impact sound level*: 49dB
(*) predictive values obtained theoretically, referring to floors with a thickness of 3.5/16+20cm with an intrados finish consisting of plasterboard sheets and an extrados finish consisting of a suitable layer of sand-cement screed.
Ready for finishing
Appropriate metal strips are embedded in the polystyrene, to which it is possible to fix the finishing plasterboard sheets or apply suspended loads. The particular shape of these patented metal strips ensures the anchoring of the finishing sheets to the reinforced concrete part, even in case of fire.
False ceilings might be necessary to conceal electrical or plumbing systems, or to further increase the thermal and acoustic insulation of the ICF floor.
